Police Officer set to face disciplinary proceedings after posting fun pictures of himself on open social network website

The BBC, Sky and the Guardian have run stories on how the following YouTube video (posted to a police officers private facebook page) has compromised the professional standards of the Metropolitan Police and is set to lead to disciplinary proceedings against those involved.

Personally I think it’s obvious that the guys were just engaging in a bit of harmless fun, but the mass media coverage and the professional disciplinary developments show that even professional law makers can sometimes not realise the issues that can present every time you post something onto an open social networking site. For members of the armed forces, police or healthcare professionals online social networking can be fraught with privacy issues and it is for this reason that the 3G Dating Agency service only involves one-to-one video sharing and doesn’t offer one-to-many sharing of personal videos.
