What to do when your MP asks you to check out hot girls on web cams!
As an advocate for moderated online communities who blogged only last week about the problems that can unfold when you link Professional and Personal Networks i wasn’t surprised to read today in the Telegraph that a prominent MP has removed his Facebook page after his account inadvertently sent out links to his contacts inviting them to check out “sexy women”.
Bill Wiggin, a shadow minister, has removed himself from the social networking site Facebook after links to a risqué dating website were sent to his friends and colleagues…. …. The MP for Leominster, Herefordshire, said he has now deleted his webpage from the site because he did not want to be “involved in a sex scandal”. The messages from Mr Wiggin’s site were sent out to his Facebook friends, including Tory candidates Harriet Baldwin and Louise Bagshawe…. …Mr Wiggin, 42, a married father of three young children, said:
“I don’t want to be involved in a sex scandal. It’s a shame I’ve had to deactivate my account because it’s a nice way of keeping in touch with people. Facebook was one of the ways I used to contact and be contacted by people living in my constituency….. A similar thing happened a few weeks ago so I deactivated my account then and only reactivated again last week… I don’t want silly messages sent out of my account and I’ve got no idea how they are doing it, which is why I think it’s safer if I avoid Facebook in the future.”acts

I just read at Cellular News (see link) that Nokia is in talks with Facebook over handset integration so that it also knows where the user is and has access to mobile functionality – like SMS and GPS.
So let’s just rerun this scenario with MP Bill Wiggin having his Nokia/Facebook Mobile profile hacked. Oh dear….
He’s going to probably have everyone he has ever met continually tracked using GPS. Great for the nosey burglars in cyberspace who will immediately know if you’re at home or not because your MP is unwittingly telling him… but woe betide you if you go anywhere in the vicinity of these hot girls (or their pimp).
